I can hear you now, “what, another story about climate change?” Well, dear reader, please don’t desert me yet, there’s a new study that you almost certainly won’t hear about in the corporate media. And, there’s a story in the Washington Post that, given their propensity to echo the prevailing view of climate change in the other corporate media, is really stunning.
Before I start, I want to state that I’m a true believer in climate change. After all, it’s a proven fact that our climate changes. What I don’t agree with is the conceit that the flyspeck of mankind can have any material impact on the climate.
So, here goes…
Sunlight And Clouds - Not CO2 - Drive Earth's Climate.
According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Earth’s atmosphere is constantly working to balance the planet’s “energy budget”—the amount of energy entering and leaving it. After the Sun’s shortwave radiation—sunshine—reaches the Earth, the energy flows back into space as thermal radiation.
If this balance is disrupted, and more sunlight is absorbed or not enough heat escapes to space, Earth’s temperature will rise.
NASA’s Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) website states “Climate is controlled by the amount of sunlight absorbed by Earth and the amount of infrared energy emitted to space. These quantities—together with their differences—define Earth’s radiation budget.”
Recently scientists published a study that found that recent warming is not the result of increasing CO2.
Instead, after analyzing satellite data, the researchers concluded that the Earth has warmed because it’s been absorbing more sunlight due to reduced global cloud cover. Because clouds “reflect solar radiation back to space,” their impact on the climate is “measurable and significant.”
The study states that cloud formation is partially controlled by cosmic forces. When clouds decrease, the planet’s ability to reflect energy back into space and more radiation reaches the surface, causing warmer temperatures. It was concluded that the warming of the last 24 years was entirely caused by the observed decrease of Earth’s cloud cover and not by increasing greenhouse gas concentrations as claimed by climate scientists.
This study refutes the prevailing theory that CO2 causes climate change.
MSM Journalists Inadvertently Reveal Shocking Truth About Global Warming
Do you remember my article two years ago, Paleo What? that showed how the Earth’s temperature closely tracks with the level of CO2 in the atmosphere. But it also shows that the current state of CO2 and world temperatures is about the same as it was 160,000, 350,000 and 400,000 years ago. Man-o-man were the SUVs gigantic back then!
In recent years, particularly around mid-July, there has been a noticeable surge in headlines featuring the "hottest day" ever on record in the corporate media. (See It’s Hot, Hot, Hot!) This timing coincides with hot weather, so naturally, it's quite convincing to persuade readers that the world's oceans are boiling and planet Earth will ignite into a fireball unless drastic actions are taken.
Context is particularly important when it comes to climate change - as the narrative collapses when looking at a long enough timeline.
A funny thing happened when the Washington Post tried to map out half a billion years of global temperatures and the "disaster of global warming."
Here’s what they found:
Do you see what I see?
The Post’s writers committed a random act of journalism – they determined that the Earth’s temperatures have been decreasing for the last 50 million years and that the Earth’s temperature right now is about the same as it was 325 million years ago.
Oops! I wonder what Greta Thunberg has to say about that!
In a related story, there’s some interesting information:
The Sun has been far more active than scientists originally anticipated this year, and that could have very serious implications for all of us in the months ahead.
It seems like the climate “scientists” always discount the influence of the Sun on our climate. Often the Sun is viewed as an unchanging constant. But nothing could be further from the truth.
According to Forbes, the Sun is experiencing the greatest number of sunspots since the end of 2001.
The beautiful part of sunspot activity is the aurora borealis (the “Northern Lights”) that is the manifestation of geomagnetic storms caused by ejection of powerful bursts of energy from solar flares that occur at sunspots.
There are a few bad parts of these geomagnetic storms.
When strong enough, these storms can cause GPS systems to malfunction, such as the extreme storm that occurred this last May. In that case machinery that relies on precise GPS location, such as some farm equipment, can go off course.
Greg Kopp, a senior research scientist at the University of Colorado's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics states that “Years having higher numbers of sunspots generally correspond with warmer times on the Earth, not cooler times.”
Ok, so sunspots can affect the earth’s temperature. But the big story is that the Sun’s instability can trigger earthquakes.
Scientists have noticed a pattern in large earthquakes around the world. These seemingly occur in groups and not at random. A study using NASA’s Solar and Heliospheric Observatory measured the light energy coming from the Sun and comparing it to earthquakes around the world. Scientists found a strong correlation between the Sun’s energy and earthquakes.

So, did you know about any of this? I’m betting no. And, depending where you get your news you may never have read about anything like this. These stories just don’t fit the current media narrative.
* "Red Rubber Ball" is a pop song written by Bruce Woodley of The Seekers and Paul Simon of Simon & Garfunkel, recorded by The Cyrkle, whose version reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and in South Africa and New Zealand. In Canada, the song reached No. 1.
