Remember the 1959 song “I’ve Been Everywhere”1 performed by Johnny Cash? According to that song, he’d been to 91 different places.
Well, I can’t exactly say that I’ve been to 91 different places, but by my count I’ve visited 37 different countries.
I’m very fortunate to have been able to do a little bit of personal travel, but most of my travel has been for business. Depending where your company sends you, these can be some pretty terrific places, especially since somebody else is paying!
All that travel has enabled me to have done and seen some incredible things. I’ve:
Kissed the Blarney Stone
Seen the incredible poverty of Mumbai, India
Eaten lunch on the Eiffel Tower
Walked La Castellana in Madrid
Dined at 10,000 feet on Monserrate Mountain, Bogotá, Columbia
Threw a pound coin in the memorial to Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed at Harrods in London
Visited the giant reclining golden Buddha in Bangkok, Thailand
Been down a salt mine in Salzburg, Austria
Got lost on the streets of Prague
Rode on the Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls, Ontario
Toured the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin
Visited Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace in London
Sampled various port wines at the Port and Douro Wines Institute in Lisbon
Ate haggis in Edinburgh, Scotland
Walked Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro
Been to the top of Mount Pilatus in Switzerland
Experienced -40F in Winnipeg
Seen the Mona Lisa at The Louvre
Toured the Sydney Opera House
Ate dinner off a banana leaf in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Bought jewelry at the Gold Souk in Dubai, U.A.E.
Had the best cheeseburger ever at The Irish Pub in Bangkok, Thailand
I’ve been blessed to have been to so many places and to have had so many wonderful experiences, but there’s no place I’d rather live than right here!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Yes. God Bless America. I just pray we will have an America to thank and bless between now July 4th and next January 20th
Chuck, you are truly Blessed to have seen our world from an open heart, and appreciation for their importance. The United States will always be our home…..wish those who don’t appreciate it, would go back where they came from, and leave us in peace…:
